Google Search Console seems to be stuck right now, so this felt like a good time to step back and look at my blog traffic growth over the past month.
If you remember from my original post, Beyond the Visitor Count: A New Content Creation Strategy for My Core Pages, I have three core pages that I want to monitor.
After One Month: What the Numbers Actually Say
Here’s a breakdown of my blog traffic growth for my core pages from March 25 to April 22, basically one month’s worth of data.
| Page Name | Clicks | Impressions | CTR | Position |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 10 Qualities of a Great Blog Post | 6 | 209 | 2.9% | 49.9 |
| SEO Tips for Beginners | 3 | 3133 | 0.1% | 73.5 |
| Content Creation Over 50: The Complete Beginner’s Guide | 7 | 1929 | 0.4% | 6.9 |
10 Qualities of a Great Blog Post
This post still feels like a foundational piece for me, especially when it comes to understanding what actually makes a blog post work over time.
- Clicks: 4 → 6 (+2)
- Impressions: 70 → 209 (3x increase)
- CTR: 5.7% → 2.9% (down, but normal with more impressions)
- Position: 46.7 → 49.9 (slight drop)
✅ Summary:
Getting seen more. Slight ranking dip, but nothing concerning. This is normal as visibility expands.
With this post, I don’t expect to see a ton of changes. Maybe over the years it will change, but I’m going against the big dogs with this keyword. So I’ll take what I can get.
SEO Tips for Beginners
This is one I knew would take time, especially in a space where learning how to rank your blog on Google means competing with established sites.
- Clicks: 1 → 3 (+2)
- Impressions: 1417 → 3133 (more than doubled)
- CTR: 0.1% → 0.1% (no change)
- Position: 73.9 → 73.5 (tiny improvement)
✅ Summary:
Strong impression growth. Still buried in rankings, which explains the low CTR. This is a long-term play.
I’m playing with the big players on this keyword too. Sites like Moz, Semrush and Hubspot. Why did I pick such a competitive keyword? I don’t know. I guess I’m a sucker for a challenge.
Content Creation Over 50: The Complete Beginner’s Guide
This page is starting to feel like the core of everything I’m building, and it’s clearly playing a role in my overall blog traffic growth.
- Clicks: 1 → 7 (+6)
- Impressions: 300 → 1929 (massive jump)
- CTR: 0.3% → 0.4% (slight improvement)
- Position: 9.5 → 6.9 (big jump into stronger page 1 territory)
🔥 Summary:
This is my winner right now.
- Big visibility increase
- Ranking improved significantly
- Starting to generate real clicks
What really helps is that I’m documenting the changes. It’s still early, but this is the first time it actually feels like things are starting to move. That’s enough for me to keep going.
