Start Here: Content Creation Over 50

If you’ve landed here, chances are you’re curious about creating content but are not sure where you fit anymore. Maybe you feel late. Maybe you feel awkward. Maybe you’re just tired of the noise.
You’re in the right place.
This site is about content creation over 50, starting where you are, and finding joy in the process, not chasing trends or algorithms.

You don’t need to be a ‘hustler’ to have an impact. I focus on personal branding in midlife—which is really just a fancy way of saying ‘being yourself out loud.’ It’s about creating a space where our years of experience are seen as an asset, not an afterthought.

What You’ll Learn Here

If you’re curious about content creation over 50, you’re in the right place. This site is designed to help beginners start creating content later in life without feeling overwhelmed. You’ll learn how to begin blogging or video creation, overcome the fear of filming in public, and build confidence as a creator using simple tools and practical strategies. I share real lessons from my own journey, including how to stay consistent, improve your content over time, and turn your life experience into ideas people want to watch or read. Content creation over 50 isn’t about competing with younger creators. It’s about using your experience, perspective, and curiosity to create something meaningful.

Start Here in 3 Easy Steps

Step 1: Read the Content Creation Over 50 Guide

If you’re just getting started, begin with my Content Creation Over 50 Guide. This article walks through the basics of content creation over 50, including how to choose a topic, pick the right platform, and start publishing content without overthinking the process.

Step 2: Learn How to Film Content in Public

One of the biggest challenges new creators face is filming around other people. In Filming Content in Public, I share practical ways to get comfortable recording video even when it feels awkward at first.

Step 3: Start Posting Imperfect Content

Many people wait too long to start because they think everything has to be perfect. In Posting Imperfect Content, I explain why imperfect content is actually the fastest way to build confidence and improve.

A Little Backstory

I started blogging about 13 years ago.
Back then, this site had a simple purpose: help people learn how to blog and use social media to grow a following. It worked. The site had solid traffic, I monetized it, and it became a real part of my life.
One of the most popular features was called Featured Writer Friday.
Each week, I highlighted another blogger. They shared how they started, where they were at now, and what tools they liked using. There were no affiliate links. No pitches. It was just a fun way to promote someone else’s work and celebrate the journey.

Then life happened.
I stepped away and let it all go.

Finding My Way Back (Through Video)

Around 2022, I picked things back up again, but not the way I expected.
I started an Instagram account called Empty Nesters’ Weekend Adventures. I filmed simple reels. Weekend moments. Sami eating ice cream. The tunnel of trees in The Villages. Nothing fancy. Nothing planned.
And somewhere along the way, I got hooked on video.
I did a few small videos tied to the blogging side of this site, but video kept pulling me in.

Why Video Stuck

Video isn’t just about moving pictures; it’s about digital storytelling. It’s the modern version of sitting around a campfire, only now the campfire is a screen and the audience is global.
For me, the process of shaping an idea into a finished video is where the magic happens.

Video lets me create the way I want to create.
I can be funny (at least to myself).
I can teach, which I enjoy. (I guess that’s the technical writer side of me popping out.)
Or I can just show something and let it speak for itself.

Blogging has a creative process, but it basically stops at the written page.
Video doesn’t.
With video, the process keeps going:

  • figuring out what to film
  • shaping an idea
  • talking it out
  • editing
  • and finally seeing the finished piece

That full arc is what I enjoy.
And honestly, I love when someone watches, reads, or comments and lets me know it connected with them.

Content Creation Over 50: Why I Still Do This

I’m not here to get rich.
I’m not trying to get famous.

This is a release for me from a hectic world.

Creating video brings me joy. And if it brings a little encouragement, clarity, or motivation to someone watching, even better.
That’s the whole point.
