The Dream Is Big, Even if Last Tuesday’s Visitor Count Was Small

Starting over after 50 isn’t just a possibility; it’s an opportunity. Age is nothing more than a number, so don’t let it dictate your dreams.
The haters are gonna hate and there’s always a troll under some bridge, but their noise shouldn’t stand in your way.

Follow your heart.

This site is about content creation over 50 and the idea that age is just a number. You are not too old to start creating content and sharing it online.

And by content, I mean anything.

It could be writing a blog.
It could be creating videos or Shorts for YouTube or Instagram.
It could be writing an eBook.
Or anything else you can think of.

And at 63, I think I know what I’m talking about.

The truth is, I really enjoy writing and blogging. I love taking that blank screen and turning it into something people can use. I enjoy taking the things I’ve learned and putting them into words so they might help someone else build their own dream.

This website has actually been around for 13 years.

Over that time I’ve dabbled in blogging, videos, graphics, and images for all sorts of online content.

The drive to create is what keeps me going.

Your Site Doesn’t Look Like It’s 13 Years Old

Believe it or not, it is.

But I can hear you already.

“Then where is all the content?”

That’s a fair question.

Let me explain.

Years ago this site was actually doing pretty well. I posted new content every weekend, usually on Sundays. On top of that, I had a series called Featured Writer Friday.

In that series I interviewed bloggers and talked with them about how they got started, where they were in their journey, their favorite tools, and the lessons they learned along the way.

It was probably more popular than my other posts.

It was fun. I met a lot of great bloggers through it. Some of them I’m still in contact with today.

The site had hundreds of posts. I was monetizing it. I was meeting interesting people and learning new things.

Things were going great.

What could go wrong?

Then one day I made a decision that I would regret almost immediately.

With the Click of a Button

Through a mix of burnout, bad decisions, and probably a little frustration, I deleted the entire site.

Every post.

Every page.

Every interview.

Hundreds of articles that had taken years to write.

Gone.

To quote Doc Brown from Back to the Future:

“Erased from existence.”

The site sat empty for a couple of years after that.

Sure, I tried to get it going again from time to time. But there was never any real commitment. I’d start, lose momentum, and stop again.

Then earlier this year, in January, something changed.

I started again.

But this time it felt different.

This time I had a reason.

I want to turn this into something real. I want to turn it into an escape plan.

Okay, So Now What?

Here’s the idea.

I enjoy traveling.

I enjoy writing.

So why not become a writer who travels?

That’s the dream.

I’d like to get a van, fix it up, and hit the road. Travel around the country and write about the places I visit.

Small towns.
Roadside attractions.
Good food.
Interesting people.

The kinds of places most people drive past without even noticing.

Some of it will be blog posts. Some of it will be videos. Maybe a few books someday.

Who knows where it will lead.

But I do know this.

The dream is big… even if last Tuesday’s visitor count was small.

And that’s okay.

Because the important thing is that the journey has started again.
