Why Is My Blog Not Getting Traffic? Here’s What I’m Doing Next

I went back to my Google Search Console and I see things haven’t moved much. That’s understandable. It’s only been what, two weeks? Like they say, “Rome wasn’t built in a day,” and neither will your website traffic. Still, it makes me wonder… why is my blog not getting traffic, even when I’m putting in the work?

Can you relate?

I could just sit here and wait, but that won’t do anything. That’s exactly how people get stuck, especially early on when traffic is slow.

So what do I need to do to get more people to my site? It comes down to understanding how to rank your blog on Google.

That slow start is normal, even though it can make you feel like something is wrong. If you need a clearer picture of what that timeline really looks like, here’s a more honest look at how long it takes to get blog traffic.

I could start an ad campaign. That may work, but it will cost money. Money that I don’t have because I have no traffic.

“I’d like to see what’s behind door number three, Monty.”
The audience applauds behind me. The tension builds…
“You have won—” the announcer pauses for that dramatic three-second pause, the audience gasps “—social media to drive traffic to your site, instead of waiting for search to catch up.”

I see on that on my Threads page for Savor The Flavor Chicago, I have a great and very active following. There’s only 130 people or so, but they are active.

My Instagram page is sitting around 4k follows but they are not very active. Maybe that’s because I’m not very active.

Why is my blog not getting traffic?

I keep coming back to the same answer, create more videos. It’s one of the fastest ways to start building visibility, even if you’re just getting started.

Not because it’s trendy. Not because everyone says to do it.
Because it’s the one thing I’ve seen actually work… even on a small scale.

On Threads, I’m starting to see it.
A post hits, people respond, conversations happen. It’s not huge numbers, but it’s real. And real beats silent traffic every time.

Why is my blog not getting traffic?

So instead of waiting on Google, I’m going to help Google find me.

More videos. More visibility. More chances to connect.

And I’m going to keep it simple.

  • Film short clips during the day
  • Share them on Instagram and Threads
  • Link back to what I’m building here

No overthinking. No perfection. Just consistent reps.

Start my YouTube (or my other YouTube @SavorTheFlavorChicago). Because at some point, you have to stop overthinking and just start.

I’ve been putting this off.

Not because I don’t know how.
Because starting something new always feels bigger than it really is.

But if I’m serious about this, I can’t ignore it.

YouTube isn’t just another platform.
It’s search. It’s long-term. It’s a second way people can find me outside of Google.

So it’s time.

It doesn’t have to be perfect.
I just have to start.

I can sit here and wait for traffic to come.

Or I can go where the people already are.

Right now, that’s social. That’s video. That’s showing up.

So that’s what I’m going to do.

Let’s see where it goes.

Until next time,
Peace, Love, and Happiness
