I am Gemma – I have 2 daughters and 2 sons. We live in Yorkshire and my girls are both exploring the industry of acting, modeling and the media so the blog was a good start for us. We write about our experiences, travel, and life with other bits thrown in there. My daughters are 9 and 6 and sons 10 and 2 so we have a variety of interests.

  1. How long have you been blogging?

We have been blogging since last August so we are relatively new however we are just enjoying writing about our experiences. After a few weeks blogging I went to an event and that sort of helped us get to know other bloggers and PR companies in the industry.

  1. Are you a full-time blogger or do you also have another job/career?

No, I am a mum and also training to do accounts so I do have other interests.

  1. What got you started into blogging?

I was looking for a creative outlet for writing and I don’t have the writing style to write a book so I just found blogging by accident and thought I could start that and then I just started writing about our experiences and chatting to other bloggers and now 8 months later still sort of writing.

  1. What is your blog about and how does it help others?

Our blog is about life, business, travel, and other bits and pieces. I hope our posts inspire others to travel wise, we post about saving money and being frugal and also recently have posted party theme ideas and bedroom décor inspiration – Anything Girly and about our lives we can post.

  1. What is working for you and your blog? Why?

Our travel posts as a family seem to work well because I think people like reading about other’s holidays and getting inspired with places to go. People also like to see lots of pictures I think so I always try and include some. Other popular posts include watching suggestions as we watch a lot of TV and movies and play a lot of games so I think suggestion posts are really good.

  1. What did not work out so well for your blog? Why?

Some posts just don’t seem to get as many views but I guess it depends on what people are searching for. If you are writing for other people then maybe see what keywords people are searching in search engines and then tailor your post to that but we write for us, so we can look back and see what we were doing when and look back at pictures and videos so that is good enough for us.

  1. What tools, programs, apps do you use to create your blog/website (tools that you can’t live without)?

We have tried a few tools but nothing that seems to be a tool or program we couldn’t live without.

  1. What piece of advice would you give to someone who is interested in starting a blog?

Do what you want to do, write about what you want, concentrate on what makes you happy then It won’t seem like a chore. Don’t force yourself and put pressure on yourself to create posts. Quality and your happiness are more important than churning out content.

I don’t monetize the site however there are plenty of sites and affiliate schemes that people can use to monetize, I just use the blog as a creative outlet for my writing and something the girls can look back on.

The future will be more posts about parenting, frugal tips and also following my girls moving through their career as models hopefully as we are just in the process of applying to agencies.
