I am Abhinav Singh. I work from Lucknow/New Delhi in India. I have traveled to more than 250 destinations in India and 11 countries since 2008. After I was fired from my corporate job for traveling too much, I started my travel blog which opened many gates and opportunities for me. Since then there has been no looking back. In the short span, I have been listed as a top travel blogger of India more than 20 times by reputed names such as Skyscanner and Lonely Planet Magazine India, etc. I also write travel articles for leading newspapers and magazines such as National Geographic Traveler India, Lonely Planet Magazine India, Mint, etc. and have also judged travel contests by Wrangler.

1. How long have you been blogging?

I have been blogging on travel since October 2014 though I have been solo traveling independently since 2008.

2. Are you a full-time blogger or do you also have another job/career?

I am a full time blogger. My entire income is dependent on travel blogging, photography and writing. People say I am perhaps the only male Indian blogger who is into travel blogging full time and his entire income depends on it. I need to verify that but it seems likely!

3. What got you started into blogging?

I am an accidental travel blogger. When I was fired from my job because I was travelling too much, I didn’t know what to do. I was in a boring job in a stock-broking company. After being fired, I was appearing for interviews. I stopped when I realized that I was singing travel songs in interviews with Vice Presidents of Human Resource of companies. I badly wanted to do something in the travel and writing field. I was passionate about both. It was now or never! I started my travel blog with good faith and luckily it picked up within a few months. Everything happens for good!

4. What is your blog about and how does it help others?

My blog is exclusively on all things travel. I write on all genres but most of my content is on adventure and wildlife as I am most passionate about these genres. I give a well rounded information of all the places I have been to with attractive pictures and engaging videos.

5. What is working for you and your blog? Why?

I think people love my blog due to my honest writing which my readers find soulful and straight from the heart! They also love my content as I give a lot of practical information about the destinations I write about. You may have the best of SEO but if your content is not good, it is not going to help.

6. What did not work out so well for your blog? Why?

Initially, having zilch idea about SEO, I was writing blog which no body was searching for. I have become wiser now.

7. What tools, programs, apps do you use to create your blog/website (tools that you can’t live without)?

I use lightroom and Windows movie maker for editing pictures and videos. I would not know what to do without them. I also love Canva for editing images.

8. What piece of advice would you give to someone who is interested in starting a blog?

The first thing a new blogger needs to zero in on is whether he/she wants to become a professional or hobby blogger. Most newbies, including me in my starting days, think that professional blogging is a kids’ play. Starting a blog and sustaining it requires herculean efforts. It involves a lot of work so one should do their research and homework before starting the blog. I started without knowing many things. I made huge mistakes and learned on the job.

9. Are you monetizing your website? If so, how?

I work on my domain authority and traffic. This helps me in attracting more affiliate income and sponsored posts apart from the revenue from advertisements, of course. I also earn for writing for other digital and print platforms.

10. What tools are you using to monetizing your website?

Yoast is great plugin for SEO. Affiliate marketing and sponsored posts are the source of income to many bloggers.

11. What piece of advice would you give to someone who is interested in monetizing their website/blog?

First things first! You need to get your blog self hosted and work on SEO. Also you should work on increasing your traffic and domain authority! These were my mistakes when I started. I thought just writing and photography works! Also, your content should be very good to keep the readers glued to your blog and returning for more. Having a niche also helps!

12. What do you have planned for the future of your website?

I want to create lots of destination guides and also focus on affiliate marketing.
